The victim is 54-year old Juan M. Lopez of Sterling. Authorities are not issuing an exact cause of death at this time.
A second victim, 41-year-old Rodolfo Luevano of Rock Falls is at CGH Medical Center with severe injuries to his head.
The crime happened around 2:00 A.M. Saturday in the 400 block of West 5h Street in Sterling. Police were called to the scene for a disturbance and found the two victims when they arrived.
Right now it's unclear how they were injured. Sterling police say no knives or firearms were used in the attacks. Police do not suspect gangs or drugs were involved, but they do believe the suspects and victims knew each other.
