This Fourth of July will be different in a lot of ways.
Combat jets will patrol the skies over New York, Washington D.C., and other cities. A double wall has been built around the entire national mall in the capital, New York will be sending out heavily armed anti-terrorism teams and in California, all 30 highway patrol aircraft will be watching from the skies.
There will be fireworks and barbecues, as there always are, but there will be a heavy police presence everywhere as well.
Some U.S. officials say there's been more talk of a terror attack. But they stress the intelligence isn't specific.
