The oldest person in Illinois has died. As we told you in July, Mary Crombie was turning 113 years old. Monday she died at a Dixon retirement home.
Administrator Sylvia Montavon says she died "peacefully in her sleep." Crombie was a long-time Chicago Cubs fan, who could remember the last time they won the World Series in 1908.
Her room at the retirement home was decorated with Cubs memorabilia. The Los Angeles-based gerontology research group says Crombie was the fourth oldest person in the United States and the ninth oldest person in the world.
