A Machesney park woman, 55 year old Alberta James got the prize of a lifetime. She cashed in her seven million dollar winning lottery ticket.
Alberta James is taking a year off from her job as a mail carrier. That's how long she says it will take for reality to set in.

"I don't know why God has blessed me like this, but it's really nice!" James exclaimed.

After taxes Alberta will get a lump sum of a little under three million dollars. She plans to use the money for her family. Alberta has been caring for her deaf aunt since her mom passed away in 1979. James says she's had financial problems for years... Her husband died about ten years ago in a work accident. Besides caring for her aunt, Alberta also provides for her dad. But she has no complaints.

“Dad and I kind of take care of each other. He's really there for me and when I'm working he's the person that gives my aunt pills and takes care of her during the day when I'm working," James said.

Now the family can afford some professional help at home. And Alberta does plan to splurge a little... She's planning on buying a silver SUV.
