It was another hot day Thursday in Rockford but the western states have been feeling the heat for a while.
It’s so dry out west that horses are starving to death because there's no hay or grassland to feed them.
Farmers from Rockford have collected 24 tons of hay for the drought stricken area, but have no way of getting it there.
They have tried to send it by rail, by truck and even asked the National Guard without success and then they asked the People You Can Count On. So far, viewers have donated five trucks, drivers, and even money for gas. But, the farmers still need your help. If you have a truck, fuel or anything you would like to donate please call us at 23 News at 987-5330.
