Men and women across the Stateline are saying thank you to the service men and women who've given their lives for their country. Today at Memorial Hall in Rockford, the message to "Remember the Troops" was loud and clear.
The Daughters of the American Revolution hosted an event there to commemorate all American soldiers in all wars. Servicemen and women from across the Stateline gathered to remember those who gave their lives for our country. It was also a chance to catch up with old friends. Today is an emotional day for everyone in uniform.
"It's a very important day to me. It's just, I don't have the words. I'm sorry, I don't have the words. It's just very very important to me," says Butch North, Commander of the Winnebago County Veterans Association.
The Winnebago County Veterans Association is active in our community. They offer scholarships to high school students and donate money to veteran nursing homes.
