In June the Rockford School Board voted not to change the co-curricular eligibility level from 2.0 to 1.5.
As it stands now, student athletes who do not maintain a "C" average will not be permitted to participate in sports or other extra curricular activities. The school board is asking that there be a more specific policy. Board members will take into consideration looking at a student's individual case. They say some students don't meet the 2.0 requirements due to absences or other circumstances.
Board member Bob Evans recommended that the superintendent and to other board members form an appeal policy committee. Students would be able to bring their reason to this committee for consideration.
The way it was left Tuesday night, a more specific policy will be compiled and taken back to the board for final approval.
