The Associated Press is reporting the Boston archdiocese has agreed to pay $85 million to settle more than 500 cases.
The attorney says victims would get awards ranging from $80,000 to $300,000. A mediator will decide who gets what, depending on the type of abuse, how long it lasted and the injuries suffered by victims.
Some call it a major step toward ending the crisis that has enveloped the nation's fourth largest archdiocese for nearly two years.
