Lockdown at Kishwaukee Elementary

All is clear at a Rockford Elementary school, after a lockdown earlier this afternoon. Police say sounds of gunshots were heard in the neighborhood near Kishwaukee Elementary school on Catlin Street. The school's principal, Alfonso Gagliano, says students were kept in the classroom as a precaution while police searched the area. The lockdown was lifted 30 minutes later.

Police did not find anything suspicious near the school. They believe someone may have been playing with fireworks nearby.
