Crews have restored power after a nearly five-hour outage in downtown Rockford. Representatives from ComEd tell us the outage spanned from Park St. on the north to Chestnut St. on the south and from the Rock River on the east to Court St. on the west.
The major buildings effected were the Coronado Theater and Winnebago County Courthouse Complex. The problem started around 4:45 p.m. The outage was caused by a problem with an underground cable.
The loss of power forced the postponement of tonight's Sing for the Cure event, which was to be held at the Coronado Theater at 7 pm. The event has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow evening at the Coronado. Tickets are still available by contacting Swedish-American Hospital.
