It was a devastating announcement, but Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey says FEMA's refusal to send funds is not the end of the road. According to Morrissey, this fight is far from over and if we can't depend on Washington, we can depend on each other.
"We continue to kind of match the needs with the resources available in our local community and at the state level. If FEMA can send a letter saying we have enough local and state support, we hope the state will help us out as well," Morrissey says.
One of our state senators believes FEMA's answer was wrong and based on faulty information. The state will be providing new information as well as drafting an appeal.
