In recent months, many area restaurants and bars have gone smoke-free. But could an entire town?
One Stateline community is going to be exploring the possibility. Machesney Park trustee Mike Luke wrote an ordinance that would make Machesney Park the first smoke-free community in Winnebago County.
He will be presenting it to the town's Public Safety, Health, and Welfare Committee tomorrow evening. The proposed ban wouldn't go into effect until next June, with bars being exempt until next September.
