Two Stores Robbed at Gunpoint

Customers at a Rockford Walgreen's are recovering tonight after a man in a ski mask threatened them at gunpoint before demanding money from the cashier.

Police arrived on the scene at 7:18 p.m. Witnesses say a lone gunman in a ski mask entered the drug store wearing black jeans and a black and blue jacket. The man first approached the customers in the store. When they refused to hand over their cash, the suspect went for the counter. He was last seen on foot, headed south on Auburn Rd.

At this hour police are still investigating another report of armed robbery from earlier this evening. This one happened at Ferry's Market at 1102 Ferguson. That's where a single unidentified suspect used a gun to hold up the store. No word yet on what he took or if police have anyone in custody.
