The Belvidere School District is getting a new high school. Now, the district needs our money to keep things in order.
Several dozen parents went door-to-door today urging residents to approve a $2.8 million school referendum. The money would be used to build a new high school and two new elementary schools.
"There's still a lot of people unaware for the need of the referendum and so if going door to door is a good way to get the word out," says Michael Nelson, a Belvidere parent.
The district is adding more schools because they are expecting an annual 6.5% student population increase.
