Sixteen cars of an Illinois Central Gulf frieght train jumped the tracks shortly after 5 p.m. near the Macon County Fairgrounds.

Decatur Fire Lieutenant Michael Bishop said none of the rail cars involved were carrying hazardous materials.

The accident caused a small grass fire that was quickly extinguished by bystanders.

The fire was out by the time firefighters arrived at the scene.

Bishop said ten rail cars were empty, and another six carried soybeans and plastic pallets.
