State's First Human Case of West Nile

A 69-year-old Champaign County man is the state's first human case.

The unidentified man became ill on august seventh and is currently hospitalized.

In 2002, Illinois led the nation with 884 cases and 66 deaths. Health officials warn more human cases are likely.

Symptoms of the disease include fever, headache and body aches and neck stiffness.
