Two Harlem High School students are hospitalized. A boyfriend and girlfriend are being treated for an unconfirmed case of Meningitis.
Saturday, both students went to the Winnebago County Health Department with flu like symptoms. The two were then tested and hospitalized as the strains of this hospital diagnosed case of Meningitis is very contagious. The students have been treated and are expected to make a full recovery.
Bacterial cultures have been sent to the Illinois State Health department. Tests are expected back Sunday or Monday. From there, Harlem Principal Charlee Howllerith tells 23 News the High School will work with the Winnebago County Health Department. Further details will then be released.
