As temperatures continue to fall, many area children who do not have coats will continue to freeze. But we can change that.
The Salvation Army kicked off its annual Koats for Kids drive last week. They are collecting gently used winter coats and distributing them to kids who desperately need them. The group has set a goal of over 4,000 this year.
"I think people are starting to realize they need to go through their closets and check out their coats. We've been having a very steady influx of coats over the past week or so," says Mick Manne, the Director of Communication and Development for the Salvation Army.
The group will be collecting coats at the following locations through October 25th.
All Rockford area Hilander Foods
Sears Essentials, 1515 E. Riverside Blvd.
K-Mart, 1321 Sandy Hollow Rd.
All Rockford area Logli’s Supermarkets
