ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Today $4.3 million in federal funding that will go toward improving the Chicago/Rockford International Airport was announced. The grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration.
“I’m pleased today to announce this important transportation investment for the Chicago/Rockford International Airport,” said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. “Today’s grant will help the Rockford region meet its infrastructure and transportation needs while also creating jobs and growing the local economy.”
Today’s grant will be used to fund phase four of five to rehabilitate a runway that has become outdated.
