Rockford, IL— Music Director Steven Larsen and The Rockford Symphony Orchestra open the 2006-07 season with special guest violinist Rachel Lee, at 8 p.m. on September 30 at the Coronado Theatre. This concert is part of the Com-Ed Classics Series and is graciously sponsored by Savant Capital Management.
During his visit to Rockford last October, Itzhak Perlman personally recommended 18-year old Rachel Lee to Maestro Larsen. Lee will be performing Tchaikovsky’s beloved Violin Concerto, considered one of the finest in the repertoire.
The opening night performance will also feature Benjamin Britten’s A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, which brilliantly showcases the orchestra, and Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations with its mysterious collection of themes written as amusing portraits of the composer’s friends.
Tickets for this concert are available by calling the RSO Box Office at 815-965-0049 or at the Coronado Theatre box office on the day of the concert. Ticket prices range from $15 to $42.
