Consumer Groups will be in Rockford Thursday to launch its “Don’t Get Shocked Action Campaign” to block a 26 percent rate hike scheduled to hit ComEd customers in January.
CUB will be launching a petition drive against the rate hike and in support of the Electric Consumer Protection Act, HB 5766, which would extend the current electric rate freeze for another three years or until real competition for consumers develops. CUB is urging lawmakers to pass the measure in the November veto session.
For more information on the campaign, consumers can call CUB’s Consumer Hotline at 1-800-669-5556
