It's all being done through the state treasurer's Cash Dash program. The staff searched Illinois's unclaimed property database Monday to help people find assets owed to them that they might have forgotten about or never knew they had.
There are nearly 5 million names of unclaimed property owners. It is estimated that the state still has more than $1 billion in unclaimed property, and almost one in five people may have something to claim.
If you want to find out if you have any unclaimed property, you can look on the program's website at cashdash.net
