"Koats for Kids" Kicks Off September 27th

ANNUAL SALVATION ARMY “Koats for Kids” Drive Begins September 27

Rockford, IL, September 21, 2006 – The Salvation Army’s 2006 “Koats for Kids” drive begins Wednesday, September 27, 2006. The 17th annual community drive will supply free coats to needy children in the Rockford area. The collection will run through Wednesday, October 25.

The goal for this year is to collect and distribute 4,000 coats. To make this drive a success, a community-wide cooperative effort is needed from both the private and business sectors to collect every coat possible.

Coats must be in good wearable condition, clean, have buttons or zippers and have no holes, tears or stains. The coats will be distributed at no charge, directly to any child who needs a warm coat for this winter. Distribution will occur on Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st at The Salvation Army’s Social Services Center, 416 S. Madison St., Rockford, IL.
