UPDATE: -- Jackpot fever has hit the nation! The Mega Millions jackpot has bumped up to $636 million for tonight’s drawing. The increased jackpot is the second largest jackpot ever. The largest was last year’s $656 million Mega Millions jackpot split between winners in Kansas, Maryland and Redbud, Illinois.

Illinoisans can buy their tickets at more than 8,200 retailers across the state, online or on their mobile phone at www.myillinoislottery.com.

This past October the Mega Millions jackpot was upgraded to include larger, faster growing jackpots; second-place prizes of at least $1million; and better odds of winning smaller cash prizes. The massive $636 million jackpot – and its impressive $341.2 million cash option – can be attributed to the game’s revamp.

UPDATE: The Mega Millions jackpot rolled last night and now stands at an estimated $550 million for Tuesday night’s drawing. Winning numbers in the Friday drawing were: 19, 24, 26, 27, 70 and Mega Ball was 12. This jackpot has been growing since Oct. 1 and has rolled 21 times without a grand-prize winner.

Friday’s $425 million jackpot is the largest since recent changes were made to Mega Millions that include larger starting jackpots, a million-dollar second prize, and a new matrix of 1-75 for the first five numbers and 1-15 for the Mega Ball number. The price of a Mega Millions ticket: still $1.

Mega Millions quick facts:

- Mega Millions is currently played in 45 jurisdictions: 43 states plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

- Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 10 p.m. CST

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Although the lottery is getting harder to win, that's not stopping people from playing.

"You gotta play to win."

Friday the 13th may be an unlucky day, but for people like Diane Young and Peter Russo, they're still cashing in. Hoping to become the next multimillionaires.

"Hopefully with it being Friday the 13th my luck will turn the other way."

"I never put that together I was thinking what it's $400M lets play."

According to game officials, Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is the 2nd largest in history. These days the pot keeps growing, but there's a reason for the increasing jackpot.

Now there's 75 numbers to choose from instead of the previous 56. Making the odds of winning even harder. That's not stopping people in the area from pressing their luck.

"You gotta keep the faith and your head up and think you're gonna win that's all you gotta do."

"Cross my fingers and hope for the best."

Al's Assistant Manager Willie Wilks says on days like today he sells as many as 500 tickets, usually it's just 200, but hopefully it doesn't rollover a 21st time.

Friday's Mega Millions Numbers: 19-24-26-27-70, Mega Ball: 12
