NRA Backs Judge Powers

WILL COUNTY, IL - The National Rifle Association (NRA) announced its endorsement of Judge Michael J. Powers for the Third Appellate Court.

"On behalf of the NRA Political Victory Fund and all our members in the State of Illinois, I am pleased to inform you of your 'A' rating and endorsement for the 2006 General Election for Illinois 3rd District Appellate Judge," wrote Anthony Roulette, Illinois State Liaison for the NRA, in a letter to Judge Powers.

Judge Powers also has been endorsed by the Illinois State Rifle Association.

The son of a police officer, Judge Powers has served as Associate Judge in Will County since 2004. He is the only candidate for Third Appellate Court rated "Highly Qualified" by the Illinois State Bar Association. He is running for the seat currently held by 3rd Appellate Justice Kent Slater, who is retiring.

The Third Appellate District consists of 21 counties, stretching from Will, Kankakee and Iroquois counties on the eastern border of Illinois, along the I-80 corridor to the counties of Rock Island, Mercer, Henderson and Hancock on the western border. The seat of the Third Appellate District is in Ottawa, located in LaSalle County.
