Governor Releases Member Initiatives; Takes Some Back

The projects, totaling $537,000, include lighting at a sports complex, riverfront improvements and a skate park. The move angers state Senator Patrick Welch. He's the appropriations chairman who helped push through Blagojevich's budget in the spring.

Welch says Blagojevich's office told him last month that 35-thousand dollars would be released to reimburse the town of Mendota for a skate park. He calls the reversal, quote, "ridiculous.''

Laura Hunter, spokeswoman for the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, says the projects were accidentally included. She says the administration's still reviewing them.
