Right now we're getting closer and closer to turning on the heat so efforts have already started to save some cash. The State of Illinois is asking President Bush to increase the money allocated for the federal government's Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. In a letter to the President, the extra $22 million will help Illinois residents use natural gas to heat their homes. In Illinois, eight out of ten residents heat their homes with gas. Blagojevich says that means residents face an extra financial burden.
