Gov. Blagojevich has declared Logan and DeWitt counties state disaster areas.
The two counties were rocked by storms May 30th and 31st that damaged and destroyed dozens of homes and businesses and downed many trees.
Three state agencies have helped with cleanup efforts that have strained local budgets.
The declaration allows the state to offer more help with cleanup costs.
It also opens the door for a federal disaster declaration that could help residents with grants and housing assistance and let the state recoup its costs.
