ELMHURST, Ill. (AP) -- The DuPage County coroner says a suburban Chicago man shot and killed his wife and two adult children before committing suicide.
Coroner Richard Jorgensen told the Chicago Sun-Times on Sunday that 82-year-old Francis Stack shot his wife, 82-year-old Joan Stack, and their children, 57-year-old Mary Stack and 48-year-old Francis Stack Jr.
The coroner said Francis Stack then shot himself.
Police found the four bodies in the family's Elmhurst home on Saturday evening while doing a well-being check. Elmhurst police said in a statement that officers found the victims "with visible gunshot wounds." Police recovered a weapon at the scene.
Sunday afternoon four white crosses with the victims' names and flowers were set outside the home. Neighbors described the Stacks as loving parents.
