At issue is the 5 and 2 scheduling: five periods of teaching, 2 periods of planning and meeting with students, but the district is asking that some teachers instruct for a sixth period if another class becomes too full.
Teachers have agreed to do so in the past, but they don't want it to become a permanent thing.
Board president Dave Kirlinkus says the district just wants the option to be able to ask a teacher to instruct a sixth class.
Teachers could say no, but if they agreed, they would be paid 20 percent extra. No new contract negotiations have been scheduled.
