Police in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin are searching for a 30-year-old Galena man who is wanted in the death of his eight-year-old son early Wednesday.
Illinois State Police Captain Glenn Leonard says an arrest warrant has been issued accusing the man of first-degree murder, but he would not release the boy's name or information on how he died. Leonard says the boy died at a Dubuque, Iowa hospital about 5:30 Wednesday morning.
Leonard says the boy was found inside a construction truck after it had crashed into a utility pole while Jo Daviess County police officers were trying to stop it. The boy's father, whom Leonard says was driving, got away on foot.
Leonard says a car was stolen nearby a short time later and the suspect, still considered armed and dangerous, is still believed to be in it.
Leonard described the car as a green 2005 Chevrolet Malibu with Illinois license plate 825-4607.
