Lance Corporal Andrew Patten of Byron is a fallen hero. Family and friends as well as state and local leaders dedicated a memorial to Patten today.

The Byron marine was killed in Iraq in December 2005. His body is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. But his family wanted a memorial near his home.

So several people and organizations pooled their resources to build this memorial in the Bryon Cemetery.
