Governor Marks 5th Anniversary of Sept. 11 Attacks

CHICAGO (AP) - Governor Rod Blagojevich says the country has dedicated more resources to homeland security since September 11th, 2001.

And the governor says Illinois has taken many steps to prevent a terrorist attack, including a mutual aid system and the completion of a new state operation center.

Blagojevich spoke this morning before observing a moment of silence in honor of the September Eleventh victims outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.

The governor then proclaimed today a Day of Remembrance in Illinois.

After the ceremony, Blagojevich, Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn and dozens of firefighters and police officers attended Mass at the church.
