The Rockford Park District reports they've lost more than one thousand trees due to last week's storm, but the loss of one tree may hit a little harder than the others.
A huge bur oak tree at Sinnissippi Gardens was torn into five large pieces during Saturday morning's storm.
Thursday someone laid flowers at the site of the downed tree.
Park district officials estimate the tree was approximately 150 years old.
They say the park district might do something specials with the tree's wood.
