The city of Belvidere has set up cooling centers for residents who lost power in Monday morning’s thunderstorms. The city's cooling center is located at the Boone County Council on Aging at 2141 Henry Luckow Lane.
A second center has been opened at the Salvation Army at 422 S. Main St.
Belvidere Mayor Fred Brereton is urging residents to check on elderly friends, neighbors and relatives who may be without power. If transportation to a cooling center is needed, call 544-9893.
