DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – Off-peak overnight lane closures, including full closures, are scheduled Monday August 28, at the South Beloit Toll Plaza on the Northwest Tollway (I-90) as the plaza is converted to Open Road Tolling (ORT) for non-stop toll collection for I-PASS users.
When work is completed later this year, I-PASS users will have two ORT lanes in each direction at South Beloit (three when the Northwest Tollway is widened in this area). A smaller plaza to the right in each direction will feature five toll booth lanes for cash payers.
Work Zone Safety
A 45 m.p.h. speed limit is in effect 24/7 in all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones.
The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. Keep Workers Alive – Drive 45.
