Rockford Budget 2009
Right now the city predicts a $4.8 million deficit in 2009. That's around the same figure that was presented in 2008, but due to the current economy, balancing this year's budget looks like a challenge.

Right now the city predicts a $4.8 million deficit in 2009. That's around the same figure that was presented in 2008, but this year, aldermen worry that the economy and lower revenues from sales and property taxes will make it harder to balance this budget.
Lay-offs have not been announced just yet, but Mayor Morrissey says they are not out of the question and will be openly discussed during Saturday's meeting.
