Illinois Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn wants to form a panel that would make recommendations on cleaning up state government, especially in the governor's office.

Quinn says he'll appoint former federal prosecutor Patrick Collins to lead the panel. Collins prosecuted the case that sent former Gov. George Ryan to prison for corruption.

Quinn on Monday called Collins a "hardworking person" who will ensure state government "works for everyday people."

The lieutenant governor says the panel should have about a dozen members and issue a report with its recommendations and actions.

Quinn is also pushing for a recall amendment, pointing to Ryan's conviction and the corruption allegations surrounding Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

One of the sad facts about Illinois is the corruption, the second is the money. Over the past 4 decades I've lived here (I was born in Aurora,IL) I have been ashamed of our polititions, finances, and the fact that we are constantly waisting our money on more, bigger, corrupt government. I sincerely hope Rolland Burris does not get seated-two wrongs don't make a right!! I do hope our governor, if found guilty of making the "bribe statements" and is impeached. If a person thinks it, most-likely they will follow through with it. Our governor has a lot of bad habits, and they are FINALLY catching up with him. When are people going to be held responsible for their crimes in the political field? I'm tired of the high taxes we pay, there is a better way---get a governor that cares about the people. Nixon was a president held responsible for Watergate, our current governor is responsible for greed if not more-I hope he is held accountable.
