My mother is in a nursing home for care. Maybe if the state would pay these CNA's what they are worth there wouldn't be a shortage of help in the homes. They do their best with the help they have but you can't watch each person every second. And if the families of patients would care and come and spend time with their family member and help once in a while they appreciate that too. We are there every night and make sure she eats and we get her ready for bed and the Thank you we get from staff are really sincere. Mom won't let anyone get her ready for bed except her family. If a patient is told they aren't suppose to do things and they still do it it isn't the fault of the staff. Elderly people do not want to wait for help and 5 minutes seems like hours.
