Two dozen prostitutes are off Rockford's streets after police conducted an undercover sting. Officers made most arrests on Seventh Street near Broadway.
Prostitution has been a problem there for years, but Rockford Police Chief Chet Epperson says prostitution will no longer be tolerated in this area.
"I think this sends a clear message that there's two choices. Either change your occupation or go to another community and commit crimes, but in Rockford it's not acceptable," Epperson said.
Chief Epperson promises police will continue undercover prostitution sweeps as long as there are prostitutes working in the city.
