A bomb scare in New Milford forced some people to evacuate their homes and others to take cover inside.
The county bomb squad was called to the 2900 block of New Milford school road after Mr.Tab Connors found a suspicious object in his mailbox, something resembling a pipe bomb.
Two and a half hours later, a technician in a ballistics suit removed what turned out to be a model rocket engine, something easily available in hobby shops, used to launch model rockets. Police say if it exploded it could have caused injuries.
The FBI and postal inspector were notified, however the investigation remains in the hands of the Winnebago County sheriff's department. Police have no motive, but suspect it could be a prank.
