State Senator Proposes Repealing Gas Tax

State Senator Dave Syverson (R) is proposing a new plan to tackle the high cost of gasoline. He wants to repeal the sales tax on gas. This would reduce the price of filling up by about 20 cents a gallon at current prices.

Syverson says without the sales tax, the state could save motorists hundreds of dollars a year. However, State Senate candidate Dan Lewandowski (D) says repealing the tax is not the answer to solve the pain at the pump.

Lewandowski says repealing the gas tax may actually take needed funding away from road projects throughout the state.
