It was four years in the making. Now, those living in Freeport finally have a new place to dump their trash.
A 6,400 square-foot transfer station opened up Tuesday. The facility will hold about 300 tons of waste per day, along with recyclables and yard waste. The transfer station will replace the Freeport Municipal Landfill that closed in 2004.
