Experts say Republican gubernatorial candidate Judy Baar Topinka will have to work hard to compete with Governor Rod Blagojevich's campaign war chest. New campaign finance totals released today show Blagojevich brought in about six-and-a-half million dollars in the first six months of 2006.
A spokeswoman says he spent nearly ten million dollars, much of that on television advertisements. That leaves him with more than twelve million dollars in the bank, far more than the million-and-a-half dollars for Topinka.
She raised about three-point-two million dollars in the first half of the year. Topinka's report shows she spent half that on television ads.
