Missing Pilot

Authorities suspended their search tonight for the pilot of a small plane that crashed into Lake Michigan east of Chicago. Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says the sole passenger was pulled from the water by rescuers shortly after the crash this evening. The man didn't have any serious injuries. Langford says the search for the pilot will resume Monday. He says the single-engine plane hit the water on its belly more than three miles east of the shore without breaking up. The two men climbed out of the plane and sat on top of it for several minutes. The pilot went missing shortly after the plane sank.
Langford says the plane took off from Oshkosh, Wisconsin headed for somewhere near Cleveland, Ohio. Authorities have declined to identify either the pilot or the rescued passenger.
