DeKalb’s location close to Chicago is a definite advantage for the distribution center, but the company also targeted an area with a high caliber workforce. Interviewees often don't show up, and those offered jobs often decline, but neither of those things happened. Other distributors could look at that and our road and rail system and decide to make the Stateline home.
Target is the second of three regional distribution centers to open within about 45 minutes of Rockford. If they prove to be successful, more could be on the way.
