Development Where There Was Very Little Before

Forests, fields and a few houses are just about all you see traveling on Belt Line and Baxter Roads from Kishwaukee to I-39, but that could change.

Over $5.5 million is proposed to be spent on improvements to Baxter and Belt Line Roads in the next two years. Those improvements are highly dependent on two projects that promise to bring thousands of jobs to the Stateline and a lot more traffic to beltline.

In April it was announced that a multimillion dollar center for the development of renewable energy would be built on Rockford International Airport property. In addition to solar panels and wind mills, a Sports Score III facility has been discussed to showcase the city's so called "Freedom Field".

The few business in the area are mostly aviation related, and wouldn't directly be affected by local development but there are still some concerns in regards to the improvements on local infrastructure.

Just down Baxter Road, a huge industrial park is planned to be built. Local leaders hope that facility will spawn even more development in southern Winnebago County. It will also require several million dollars for fixing bridges and roadways that support the increased traffic.
