If you are a member of a racial minority in the Stateline, it's more likely that you got pulled over by police for some type of traffic violation last year. Illinois released its 2005 traffic stop survey of all jurisdictions.
The report shows there were 2.5 million traffic stops in the state last year. A review of Rockford's figures shows that three whites were pulled over for every two minority drivers stopped. The ratio of whites to minorities in the driving population is about three to one.
A review of 19 Stateline police agencies shows minorities are stopped at a rate significantly higher than their percentage of the driving population.
