Freeport's troubled kids will now be given another chance for success thanks to a donation from ComEd. The company kicked in $5,000 to "Youth Becoming Leaders" on Friday.
The organization focuses on helping kids from grade school to age 25. ComEd supports youth-based programs in Chicago, and the Freeport extension wants to continue that success in the stateline. The donation will go towards tutoring programs and field trips.
The young people that benefit from "Youth Becoming Leaders" hope others in the community will follow ComEd's lead, so more of their peers can be helped.
