Discussion is going on here in Illinois to pass a similar mandate.
Registered nurses from the area and members of the National Nurses Organizing Committee held a public forum. This is all to gain support for Illinois Senate Bill 2270. This would make sure that there are enough nurses in our facilities and held increase safe patient care conditions.
Ted Cahill with the National Nurses Organizing Committee says, “We believe that law in Illinois mandates safe RN and patient ratios in acute care hospitals. It will not only increase patient care but will also help bring registered nurses back to the bedside to be able to work in conditions they find safe."
Similar forums are going to be held in Chicago, Springfield and Champaign.
